![]() Long-time Community Leader John O´Leary has announced his candidacy to represent the Brentsville District on the Prince William County School Board. The 40-year-old Northern Virginia native and his wife have lived along the Linton Hall corridor for over 10 years and have three children who will be attending Victory Elementary School in the Fall. O´Leary is active in the Bristow community, serving on the Sheffield Manor Board of Directors, a Scout Leader for Cub Scout Pack 858, member and past Committee Chair of Gainesville United Methodist Church, certified official with the Virginia High School League, part of the Gainesville Grizzly Family, and coaches his daughter´s VSA soccer team. He also serves on the Superintendent´s Advisory Council as the Vice Chair for Prince William County Elementary Schools. He is running a community-centered campaign, where the focus is keeping the Bristow community together. "The communities along the Linton Hall corridor make up 80% of the Brentsville District and, yet, we have had little to no voice on the School Board. It´s time for a change." "We need to have a proven curriculum in the classrooms and teach our children higher-level thinking rather than just trying to meet the minimum standards set by the SOLs. The Prince William County School system has an obligation to prepare our students for the future." O´Leary has already filed with the Board of Elections and has started a grass-roots campaign to get out and meet the voters.
